CVO Facilitated Discussion participants identified several actions that they would suggest
to help ensure the appropriate use of antibiotics in food-producing animals in Ontario.
These were designed to build on the strengths, reduce or eliminate the challenges,
seize the opportunities, and keep the desired outcomes in mind. For the purposes of the
CVO Facilitated Discussions, veterinarians were directed to focus on those actions over
which they have direct control. Thus, the importance attributed to actions over which
veterinarians have no direct control, such as legislative change, may not reflect the true
importance that the participants attribute to these actions. Table 4 shows a summary of
the findings, in broad categories, from the CVO Facilitated Discussions.
