Report on the Annual Gathering of the Group of Women Parliamentarians

must ensure that law on paper does not become letra muerta, or “dead law.” They were also committed to addressing the subtle types of gender stereotyping which perpetuate the most explicit forms of discrimination against women.

The format of this year’s Gathering differed from previous years. The first day was structured around two panel sessions. On the second day, the Group turned to strategic planning activities in a workshop-style environment.

Delegates collectively identified priority areas for action and future training needed to carry out legislative work with a gender focus.

This report sums up the first-hand knowledge shared at the Gathering and the outcomes of the various activities that will guide the Group in its actions over the course of the next year.
