By James Friedlander-Boss
Daisy has taken a route from college through an
internship and year’s placement, to her first full role as
a Marketing Assistant for Wolverine Worldwide who
own a range of brands from Merrell and Hush Puppies
to Pro-Keds and Sauconey. I talk to Daisy to find out
what she has learned from her studies and how she
stays on top of trends.
I interned and worked as soon as I left Conde Nast and
then landed a year placement with Wolverine which is
where I have been kept on as a marketing assistant for 3
footwear brands, Keds, Sperry and Pro-Keds.
You work in the footwear sector for a couple
of brands that have sportswear leanings, how
important is it to stay on top of what is in fashion
and what do you look at to keep up to date?
What and where did you study?
Conde Nast College of Fashion and Design, a year long
Fashion Communication Course.
Part of my job is to go on monthly retail tour’s which
is where I travel up and down the country to look at
what our competitors are doing in both product and
marketing. It is really important to stay on top of the
fashion trends as our brands haven’t got strong brand
awareness in Europe therefore we need to make sure
our products are fashionable and up to date in order to
grab consumers attention among all of the other well
established brands.
What was the most important thing you learned
from studying?
To apply what you learn to different situations in
everyday life and to see whether I enjoyed learning
about this subject constantly as it helped me determine
what job role I wanted when I finished studying as I
knew I would love doing this every day.
Does music play an important role in staying up to
date and how does that feed into your work?
How did you get your job?
