NOTES
With the opening of FC United’s impressive new
stadium other clubs will have their work cut out to
outdo the Rebels in this season’s GT Best New NL
Ground Awards. However, big is not always best as
new club AC London may find as they get used to
rattling around in the 15,000-capacity Crystal Palace
athletics stadium during their inaugural season in
the Kent Invicta League.

Another big venue in London is the Olympic Stadium, with the venue recently reopening to stage
some athletics meetings and, in September, the Rugby World Cup. The debate still rages whether or not
West Ham United, who will take up residency from
next summer, have been given a golden ticket due
to amount of public money spent on the stadium.
The Hammers’ only real concern is whether they can
fill it regularly and the design does not detract from
the usual raucous East London welcome.
