e have safely made it into the close season
after what has been a very difficult year for
staging football matches. The fuel crisis,
monsoon weather and the Foot & Mouth
outbreak all conspired to give some clubs a really tough
end to the season. Some promotions and relegations
have been sorted out but others still lie with the respective leagues and their decisions over who gets elected
and who doesn’t. Have no doubt, the top factor in deciding these issues will be ground-grading, so keep your
eyes on the sports pages.

GT25 marks the 25th anniversary (Issue-wise) of our
magazine. As we enter our seventh year of publication
we are still determined to improve the product where we
can. We are also working on new projects all the time
including a new League guide to be unveiled at the
beginning of next season.

Exciting building projects are under way at a number of
locations. New stadiums for Oxford and Southampton
feature in this Issue as does news of work at Bournemouth, Ipswich, Darlington, West Brom and Blackpool to
name but a few. The obvious downside is the loss of
the old grounds and another that suddenly popped off at
the end of the season without much publicity was Canal
Street, Runcorn.
We can’t go without mentioning the awful stadium tragedies that have occurred in Africa over the last few
weeks. Even in the modern age of football stadia these
disasters are still an ever-present danger. Read Colin
Peel’s comments on the situation in Estadio Mondo.
