Endangered Grounds
Exit
The Hit List
A regular feature highlighting grounds that may soon disappear
Wembley was top of the last Hit List and is now removed as it has closed down but work on actually demolishing the old girl has not yet begun. A whole host of other clubs who were hoping to
be moved by the end of the year have also slipped back. Southampton and Northwich seem to
be the main priority for those that haven’t done them.

The Dell
Southampton
The only definite League ground to
be on the way out. New ground well
under way. (May 2001)
Drill Field
Northwich Victoria
Now that a ground share has been
arranged with Witton Albion for next
season, it looks likes the end. (May
2001)
Brockville
Falkirk
A short term ground share for next
season is the most likely scenario
whilst a new stadium is built at Westfield. Supermarket chain set to buy
Brockville. (May 2001)
Sandy Lane
Tooting & Mitcham Utd.
Work is still not finished on new
ground and it looks like they will be in
place until the end of the season.
(May 2001)
Kingsway
Bishop Auckland
A further slip down the list as news of
a new ground is still thin. (2001)
Tetbury Road
Cirencester Town
Ditto as above. No planning permission yet for new site at Kingshill.
( 2001)
Cappielow
Greenock Morton
On the list more for financial reasons
than any other. The club are struggling to survive. (2001)
Manor Ground
Oxford United
Still waiting for the much heralded restart of building at new ground. (May
2002)
Highfield Road
Coventry City
Still not real work at site of Arena
2000. Moving date may slip further.
(May 2002 or 2003)
Maine Road
Manchester City
Date amended to allow for work at
