Field Mill in the 21st Century
A pictorial report on the modernisation of Mansfield
At the start of the 2000-01 season Mansfield Town had the dubious honour of having the lowest
capacity in the Football League - just 4,500. In fact they didn’t play their first home games at
Field Mill, instead utilising Notts. County’s Meadow Lane and re-arranging matches to their opponents grounds. Since then work has progressed steadily on the rebuilding of one of the few
remaining ‘old grounds’ in the League. Here we take a look at the old and the new of Field Mill.
The 1930’s West Stand (above) has been replaced with a modern two-tier stand featuring
(eventually) Executive Boxes and other club facilities.
