The banking fell away on the east side of the venue where a simple tin cover propped up by
wooden posts looked out over a cinder running track. At this point hanging on for dear life, the
cover was in fact put out of its misery in 1980 and pulled down.
By far and away the most impressive feature of Jenner Park during this period was the popular
bank. Partly terraced in 1923, this vast slope was responsible for most of the ground’s given capacity of 10,000. Balanced over the middle portion of the banking was a strictly no frills covered
stand. \[
