One of the many pleasing things about Victoria Park, the new ground and headquarters of the Guernsey FA, is that it is within touching distance of The Track, for more than a century the spiritual home of football on the island. Indeed, the distinctive barrel roof of The Track’ s main stand is visible from certain parts of Victoria Park, thus cementing the link between the old and the new. Victoria Park is also the new home ground of Guernsey FC, who were given the honour of playing the inaugural match at the venue, an Isthmian League South Central fixture versus Westfield on 29 March 2025. The idea of a combined Guernsey club playing in English league football took hold in a serious way in 2010, when the Priaulx League( Guernsey’ s premier football competition) defeated the Liverpool County Premier Division in the final of the FA National League System Cup, held at The Track. In fact, English club sides were no strangers to Guernsey, for since the early 1900s, friendly matches, usually taking place at The Track, were a regular feature of the Guernsey football calendar. Domestically, Guernsey clubs Vale Recreation and St Martins had both competed for a while in the FA Vase, while Northerners had played in the Dorset Senior Cup, and Guernsey Athletics( who had briefly considered joining the Kent League in 2008) and Belgrave Wanderers had tried their luck in the Hamp-
