Full Steam Ahead for LNER
Partially overlapping the footprint of the former Huntington Stadium , the LNER Community Stadium is unusual in that it is not a standalone football ground . Owned by City of York Council , and managed by Greenwich Leisure Ltd , the stadium is linked to a huge building behind the South Stand goal , that contains a multiplex cinema , a 24-lane bowling alley and food and drink outlets . Integrated into the rear of the East Stand is a leisure centre and community hub , whose facilities include a 25-metre swimming pool , a gym , a dance studio , a sports hall with tiered seating , an NHS outpatients department , a well-living centre and a public library .

The stadium itself comprises of four separate stands , which all differ in height despite being of a similar design . Doing most of the heavy lifting is the three-storey East Stand ( capacity 3,632 ), the biggest and tallest of the stands , and the nerve centre of the whole operation . As well as the leisure centre and the community hub , the East Stand contains the dressing rooms ( separate ones for football and rugby league ), club offices and extensive hospitality facilities . The stand possesses a huge , glazed frontage that runs the length of the structure , nicely set off by a LNER
Community Stadium sign along the fascia , which also features the emblems of York City and York City Knights . Like the other three stands , the
East Stand is single tiered , and features hospitality boxes and a walkway at the top of the stand . Following the fashion of the new stadiums at Brentford and AFC Wimbledon , the seats are randomly coloured , with the red of York
City and the yellow of York City Knights well represented amongst the blues and the whites .
