From Summer Stress to Winter Resilience

F ollowing prolonged dry conditions across the UK, the Consolidate Summer Stress Recovery Programme offers an integrated approach to restoring turf health, performance and resilience ahead of winter.
Developed by Consolidate Turf Health Solutions, the programme combines Consolidate, De- Stress, FWY-ISP and OARS HS to address the plant, soil and watermanagement challenges that can remain after a difficult summer.
Although rainfall may bring a welcome improvement in turf colour, a greener surface does not necessarily indicate that the plant and soil have fully recovered. Compaction, weakened root systems, reduced biological activity, poor water infiltration and uneven turf development may continue to
limit surface performance.
If these underlying issues are left unaddressed, turf can enter autumn less able to tolerate wear, increased disease pressure and the more difficult growing conditions associated with winter.
Looking Beyond the Surface
Extended periods of heat and limited rainfall can restrict root development and affect the movement of water through the soil profile. Dry or waterrepellent areas may prevent subsequent rainfall or irrigation from being used effectively, with water running off, moving inconsistently through the profile or failing to reach the rootzone.
Restoring turf health must therefore involve more than improving its surface appearance. Plant stress, soil condition, rooting and water management need to be considered as connected parts of the same process.
Recover, Restore and Rebuild
No single input can address every consequence of prolonged drought. The Consolidate Summer Stress Recovery Programme brings together four complementary products to provide a coordinated response above and below the surface.
Within the programme, Consolidate supplies stabilised nitrogen to support balanced growth, plant health and resilience, while the antioxidants in De-Stress help relieve plant stress. FWY- ISP improves water penetration and infiltration, while OARS HS controls water repellency and promotes more uniform moisture distribution and retention throughout the rootzone.
