Uni-Scratch™ maintains pitch standard between renovations at Næstved Stadium, Denmark
N æstved Stadium, the principal football venue in Næstved, Denmark, has a long and varied history, serving as the home ground for top-tier clubs such as Næstved Boldklub and Næstved HG. Over the years, the stadium has undergone numerous upgrades to maintain its status as a professional football standard facility, including the installation of advanced lighting, under-turf heating, and a comprehensive renovation of the playing surface
Central to these improvements is the work of Head Groundsman Alex Moreno, who has overseen turf management for the Næstved municipality’ s sports fields for the past eight years. Responsible for 59 hectares of natural grass, multiple artificial turf surfaces, and over 75 football pitches of various sizes, Alex brings extensive expertise and dedication to his role. When the first major renovation was needed and funding for a field top maker was unavailable, Alex chose to repeatedly use the Uni-Scratch™ to clean out the pitch. Although this approach was much more time-consuming than using an Imants KORO ® FIELDTOPMAKER ® for instance, his perseverance and hard work with the Uni- Scratch™ ultimately yielded a quality playing surface for the following season, demonstrating his commitment to achieving the best results despite challenges.
In 2024, the stadium’ s playing surface underwent a total renovation, which included deep excavation and removal of all topsoil across 8,000 m2. New drainage, irrigation systems, and hybrid fibre stitching were implemented to ensure optimal conditions. To meet tight deadlines and guarantee immediate playability, the team invested in rolling grass solutions between full renovations. This included the successful application of the Campey™ Uni-Scratch™, which played an essential role in maintaining the high standard of the natural and hybrid pitches.
The Campey™ Uni-Scratch is specifically designed to infill or refill during the installation and ongoing maintenance of synthetic grass carpets. Its versatility extends to natural grass hybrid carpet pitches, where it is also effective for the final removal of organic matter during annual renovations.
