Keep compaction free with GKB! ith the Deep Tine

W Aerator( DTA) from GKB Machines, the name speaks for itself. The DTA delivers intensive aeration, with a range of working widths and depths to suit the requirements of surfaces across the sporting spectrum.
Keeping surfaces clear of compaction is pivotal for maintaining percolation rates and oxygen flow to the plant and rooting system. When ground and climatic conditions allow, aeration should take place to give your turf the boost it needs to emerge healthy and strong this spring.
Precision engineered and built for durability and strength, the GKB DTA is available in four working widths from 1.2m to 2.6m, with larger models in the range offering impressive compaction relief down to depths of up to 400mm( 16”). The depth of the larger DTA 210 and DTA 260 models is easily set via simple hydraulic height adjustment, while the heave angle of up to 25 degrees is also quick and simple to change.
The unique tine mounting system, exclusive to GKB, allows for more tines per head optimising the efficiency of the operation, whilst also reducing downtime and potential wear imposed on parts when changing between sets. Solid and hollow tines are available in a range of different diameters to suit applications throughout the maintenance calendar.
At the smaller end of the scale, the DTA 120 and DTA 160 offer a working depth of 250mm( 10”) and a 1.2m and 1.6m working width respectively, making them ideal for smaller jobs on sensitive areas such as golf greens. At Toft Golf Club in Lincolnshire, Course Manager Tim Hales explains that their DTA 160 has become one of the most frequently used machines in their shed.“ When I joined the club we had some areas that hadn’ t been aerated as much as they could have been so the DTA has been working hard on some incredibly compacted fairways and tees to improve these areas and help them cope better with periods of heavy
rainfall. The DTA is well built and smooth to operate- compared to some other models it cuts through compaction like a sewing machine!”
Equally robust, and even more versatile, are the larger 2.1m and 2.6m models – making them ideal for the contractor market. Fineturf, one of the country’ s leading and longest established contractors currently run two GKB DTA 260’ s on their fleet.“ These machines give us great flexibility to work year-round on a variety of sports turf surfaces” says Managing Director Simon Hutton.“ With the large working width they’ re ideal for annual work on racecourses, training grounds and end of season football renovations in the spring and summer and autumn / winter work on golf fairways.”
