Thymely Information, Continued from previous page

is used in soups and chowders, when roasting chicken, turkey, beef or pork. It is a flavoring in sausage and will add zip to egg dishes. Make a thyme-flavored jelly or combine thyme with cranberries to make a spread for toast or turkey sandwiches. Thyme, especially the citrus varieties, can even be used in baking. Lemon Thyme cookies— an Herb Society favorite.
As you prepare to celebrate the coming holidays, plan to add some thyme to your Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey, use it to flavor your vegetables or make a special spread for the sandwiches which are surely on the menu the day after Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Thyme has a special Christmas connection as it is thought to
4 be one of the manger herbs.
Come December, if you still have a couple of plants standing, harvest some branches to decorate your crèche. You will be adding another scent and flavor to your celebration.
