VALUE ADDITION | MEERLANDSVLEI
At Meerlandsvlei, a diverse range of farming enterprises goes hand in hand with a strong focus on adding value. Winter grains, sheep and cattle are only part of the picture: rooibos tea and indigenous herbs such as cancer bush( Sutherlandia frutescens) are also harvested, dried and processed on the farm. For Herman Rossouw, his daughter Herma Schoeman and her husband, Willie, the value lies in retaining as much control as possible over their products and taking more of what the farm produces further along the value chain themselves.
