GRANDVIEW ZEBRAS

As the Zebras reminisced on their magical run last season, all three key returners were in agreement that the 3A Div. I state semifinal versus Peaster was at the top of the list.

Wide receiver Briggs Jentsch doesn’ t show much emotion, but he did after a fourth-and-goal stop against the Greyhounds. Quarterback Mason Landers’ s“ most energized moment” was converting a fourth-and-three on a QB run to clinch a spot in the title game.
“ That’ s one of those games you reminisce with your kids about around the campfire,” said Landers.
A win over the best defense they faced all season and one of the best in the state was the team’ s peak of 2025. Reaching AT & T Stadium for the first time since 2019, Grandview had trouble containing Yoakum in the 45-29 defeat.
With the departure of multiple starters on both sides of the ball, including the All-Johnson County MVP Bleu Hubbard, it’ ll be baby steps for the Zebras early on.
Many young players will fill in during the non-district schedule as the
team figures everybody out and gets those guys playing at the next level.
“ You can’ t teach experience,” said Landers.
The loss of seniors is part of the process, according to the Zebras. Although the experience is needed for the newcomers, Grandview has plenty of seasoned vets at its most important positions.
A couple of linemen return, along with Landers, Jentsch and wide receiver / defensive back Kason Sanders.
Offensively, Grandview wants to head in the same direction that made them successful last year by winning games at the line of scrimmage. Despite some new faces up front, the Zebras say they are right where they need to be with that unit.
Although Hubbard and Elijah Dominguez took much of the spotlight with the group’ s ability to effectively run the ball, Landers enters his final year under center with confidence in his updated backfield and a stacked wideout corps. Sanders was the touchdown leader for the Zebras at the position with 11, while one of the All-Johnson County Newcomers of the Year, Jenstch totaled 1,242 yards and 10 touchdowns in his freshman campaign.
Moreover, depth at the position that the Zebras believe
will step up in 2026 includes Brooks Adams, Braden Grigar, Bodie Shipman and Inacio Peña. With the bigger receivers, the move to tight end with Randy Pistokache is likely, Landers noted.
However, all eyes are on Jentsch to become Grandview’ s next superstar and follow in the footsteps of his brother, Dane, who brought two state titles to the small town in the late 2010s.
