He dedicates his time to assisting various service agencies and groups , providing exposure and helping to raise funds and awareness .
“ Helping 501c3 non profit organizations is a priority for me ,” he said .
Friendlee is easy to spot at each event . He is the tall , lanky cowboy with the 10-gallon hat and the booming voice , which carries a southern twang . Oh , and then there is the notable signoff .
“ I created a tag line a long time ago that really has every meaning you can think of ,” he said . “ It has always been a substitute for not saying good bye . ‘ And that just about does it so Keep It In Your Boot !’”
When not on social media , Friendlee and his inexhaustible supply of energy can be found helping Hunt County Shared Ministries provide Thanksgiving dinners for families in need in the community by launching Friendlee ’ s Holiday Turkey Drive , which resulted in pallets of turkeys and thousands in monetary contributions .
He helps promote the Walkathon and other DrugFree Greenville events .
Prior to Veterans Day , Friendlee invited veterans to attend a complimentary luncheon and show at the Texan Theater .
Friendlee has been a fixture of the local scene for decades , having at one time been a popular host at the KGVL and KIKT radio stations . He was on hand when the Greenville City Council proclaiming KGVL Day , in honor of the station ’ s 68th birthday . KGVL signed on in 1946 on 1400 AM in Greenville . In 2014 it also operated as Friendlee 105.9 — its FM frequency .
E Radio Network assumed programming control of KIKT 93.5 FM and KGVL 1400 AM in 2017 .
“ After being inspired to do radio and having a successful run at it for several years I found myself wanting to do even more , a challenge if you will ,” Friendlee recalled . “ Enter the Blue Armadillo Winery . One of the most exciting events that I have been apart of .”
