The long days of summer
I have a complicated relationship with summer in North Texas . For one thing , I ’ m not keen on walking across an asphalt parking lot wondering if the soles of my shoes will melt . Neither am I a fan of long stretches of triple-digit temperatures that turn the backyard patio into a blast furnace .
Nevertheless , the season does hold a special allure for me . The days are long . Baseball and golf are in full swing . The lakes and swimming pools are always inviting , and picnics and barbecues and celebrations abound . Besides , the wonder of modern air conditioning makes just about any indoor space a cool and a comfortable place to peruse the summer edition of Greenville Life .

where I explored and soaked in information about this beautiful and unique grassland just minutes from Greenville . You can read my account in this edition .
Writers Brad Kellar and Travis Hairgrove did some exploration of their own into Greenville ’ s entertainment scene . They produced engaging stories about local singer / songwriter Brandon Callies and actor Bill Salamon .
Hairgrove also writes about a unique place just outside our city that opens its arms to American veterans in need of some tractor therapy or a little TLC , and Kellar reports on what ’ s new with a U . S . Paralympic hopeful from Greenville who ’ s honing her shooting skills in Colorado .
So grab an ice tea or a cold lemonade , lean back and chill out with the summer edition of Greenville Life .
