family but our friends and community … and the village that it’ s taken to get her to this point,” Lauren said.
“ It’ s also been interesting getting to know her all over again, because there’ s definitely been a change in her personality. She went from being a really quiet, standoffish kid to a very chatty, constantly-talking and more loving kiddo.” Also, through the course of her recovery, Ireland has been inspired by the numerous doctors, nurses and child life specialists who have helped her at Children’ s Medical Center Dallas, many of whom were once patients there, themselves.
“ I want to be a child life specialist some day so I can help other kids,” Ireland said.
As she continues with her treatments, tests and improving her walking and running, Ireland continues to inspire her family and friends with her fighting spirit.
“ I think I’ m awesome sauce,” Ireland said emphatically.
