This ozan , hand painted by Shanna Stanbrough , directs rainwater to the tipi ’ s exterior .
“ My No . 1 thing is clean restrooms . Everybody ’ s first comment is ‘ the restrooms are wonderful .’ I come down two or three times a day and clean the restrooms ,” notes Johnny .
Along with its tipis , the resort offers walking trails , a pond stocked with native fish species , a fire pit , picnic tables and a pavilion . Dozens of solar powered fairy lights mark pathways and tipi sites . “ This place is actually the most beautiful at nighttime ,” Shanna says .
A tipi with a queen bed runs $ 99 a night with a $ 25 cleaning fee . One with a king bed goes for $ 114 plus fee . The Arrowhead requires a two-night minimum .
The Arrowhead Tipi Resort also serves as a venue for special events , such as weddings . In fact , a special room at the office / lodge is decked out as a bride ’ s changing room .
The resort is open March through December and is located at 3670 FM 2475 .
So far , it seems the Stanbroughs have found a niche in the world of “ glamping ” – a catchphrase for “ camping with glamor .” “ We ’ re local , we ’ re unique , we ’ re outdoors ,” notes Shanna .
The Arrowhead offers a distinctive North Texas getaway with its winding trails , lake access , clean and modern restrooms , solar fairy lights and the rest .
“ But ,” says Johnny , “ the tipis steal the show .”
