CAREER READY & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Butler County ’ s Workforce Development & Career Readiness program offers occupational , academic and practical skills training .
PREPARING TO WORK : Career Technical Education ( CTE ) gives students the academic , technical , and employability skills needed for postsecondary and workplace success upon high school graduation . Butler County ’ s CTE Program consists of 11 programs among four schools ( Greenville High School / Career Academy , McKenzie High School , Georgiana School , and Greenville Middle School ). All four school sites offer programs that are engaging and relevant to our local workforce . The Career Academy , which is located on the campus of Greenville High School , is where the majority of CTE programs are housed to give all students a greater chance to be exposed to various career pathways in one setting . Currently , Career Academy offers simulated work experiences in welding , nursing , business administration , industrial maintenance , and culinary . Students are also offered opportunities to participate in JROTC and a grant funded program , Jobs for America ’ s Graduates ( JAG ). JAG is dedicated to helping at-risk youth graduate from high school .
Collaboration with local and regional workforce committees allows the skills and knowledge gained from participating in CTE programs to redefine what it means to be a
18 prepared college and career ready graduate . Butler County Schools strive to be a sound academic launching pad for graduates by ensuring that students have the knowledge , skills , and attitude to be successful in college , the military , local workforce , and overall life . To achieve this , CTE programs focus on building stronger partnerships with local colleges and workforce leaders to ensure that students have opportunities to complete career pathways that results in an Associate Degree or its equivalent as well career pathways that offer relevant credentials that are recognized and valued by local business / industry . These partnerships will assist with creating even more authentic simulated work environments while building resilience and making a positive impact on our local workforce .
