THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
By Angie Long
Surrounded by the verdant branches of pecan trees , a tall , mellowed brick chimney and hearth are only remnants of the old house that once stood there .
That old chimney , located in the Mashville area of Butler County , has a special place in the hearts of Jennifer and Shane Langford . The couple , parents of three young adult children , Tanner Dunkin , Trevor Langford and Anna Blake Langford , and three “ fur kids ,” live in a home nearby .
“ When Shane and I were dating , this home and property were originally owned by a mutual friend of ours and we ’ d come out for visits . It became special to us ,” Jennifer explains .
So special , in fact , it captured her subconscious .
“ I actually had a dream one night that Shane and I were married at that old chimney ,” she says .
The couple found themselves talking about marriage and the need for space for their blended family , space on which they could put their own stamp .
“ Around the same time , the owner approached Shane about buying the property . He and his wife were moving to be closer to their children and grandchildren ,” Jennifer says .
The couple loved the familiar location they had often visited . It was easily accessible to town but also far out enough to give it that relaxing country feel — the best of both worlds . The house and property offered both the space and the privacy they needed and desired .
