Greens Reno Announcement July 2024 | Page 4

Overview

Our club ’ s greens have long been recognized for their speed , playability , and consistency . Since the course ’ s construction , they have been a pivotal feature and highlight for many golfers . However , as greens mature and age , numerous obstacles are encountered that can be prohibitive to their condition . Currently , the greens , at the end of their 25-year lifespan , are threatened by encroachment — both from the fringe and sporadically throughout the surfaces — a heavy organic layer that retains water and can promote disease , and compromised water surface drainage .
The scope of work outlined in the renovation is designed to eliminate these threats and return the greens to their original construction design and condition . Below , we highlight the key elements of the project :
• All greens , collars , and approaches will have the grass stripped , totaling 250,000 square feet .
• The top six inches of the greens ’ soil will be removed to eliminate all contamination , reestablishing the greens ’ depth and soil composition to the original specifications .
• GPS surveying will reshape the greens ’ surfaces , restoring slopes to their original design .
• Collars and approaches will be regraded to promote surface drainage .
• Tif Eagle sprigs will replant greens surfaces , and new 419 Bermuda sod will be laid on the collars and approaches .
