S
pring has officially sprung and
frankly, I couldn’t be happier. Don’t
get me wrong: the occasional snowfall
we had this year was beautiful. But I look
forward to spring and to the advent of
warmer weather. Here in West Annapolis,
where large and ancient trees line the
streets, spring means leaves will begin to
bud and the neighborhood will once again
show off an array of colorful daffodils,
tulips and hyacinths.

Of course, spring marks an upward tick
in home sales compared to the winter and
is the official start of a short road to the
peak of annual real estate sales. If current statistics for Anne Arundel County
continue, real estate supply will remain low and the days your home or
property may be on the market will be fewer.
If you want to take advantage of this dynamic market, you should plan to have
your home ready to sell as early in the spring as possible. This month we offer
several tips that might make beautifying your home and getting ready for
market less formidable. Fortunately, we don’t recommend major renovations;
instead, we encourage you to spruce up, clean up and freshen up. Kathryn Shenk,
owner of Free Your Space, LLC offers a funny but not uncommon story about
why it is important to give yourself time to get ready for sale.
This spring we are looking forward to reaching out to our local community in
new and fun ways. We have always been dedicated to community service. Jennie
has become President of the West Annapolis Business Association and is looking
forward to bringing the business community together, as well as to planning
seasonal and annual events. We are an official sponsor of the St. Mary’s
Lacrosse Team as well as America’s Vet Dogs, a not for profit organization
that trains service dogs and pairs them with veteran companions. America’s
Vet Dogs are trained to help blind, deaf or disabled veterans, including those
suffering from PTSD. Visit www.VetDogs.org to learn more about what Vet
Dogs needs and please feel free to drop your donations by our office. In support
of Vet Dogs, 10% of all contracts closed in March and April will be donated
directly to the organization.
We have several events coming up, so be sure to check in at
www.jmelvinrealestate.com to visit our calendar.
As always, a big thank you to our partners and advertisers, who are helping
us make Greenbook the best real estate magazine in town!
Thanks for reading, and Happy Spring!
