The tomatoes made this dish that we’ve tried in so many other places both interesting and new: each slice of tomato is breaded in panko crumbs and fried. The crunchy exterior of the tomato, combined with the juicy, flavorful interior and the soft mozzarella was pretty fantastic. I noticed Fried Cauliflower on the extensive menu, and was curious enough to try it. Composed of lightly breaded florets of cauliflower fried to crispy perfection then lightly dusted with salt and served with a small side of Sriracha….I could have snacked on that little gem all day long! For our main course, I chose the Crispy Panko Chicken Wrap. A flour tortilla, warmed and softened by heating on the grill, arrived absolutely stuffed with fried chicken. Diners can choose from three flavors of the dish, all of which start with all natural chicken breasts strips that have been dipped in panko and fried: buffalo spicy, sweet chili or roasted tomato, mozzarella & basil. I choose buffalo, which was adequately spicy. If I were to change anything about the wrap, it would be the addition of crumbled bleu cheese to add another layer of flavor and texture, but that is just my taste. Lure’s offers potato chips made in house, which of course are difficult to resist. I tried the Old Bay version, which were thinly sliced and fried to perfection with just the right crunch. Wendy chose the Chili Grilled Shrimp Salad. Composed of mixed greens topped with skewers of chili-marinated Gulf shrimp that have been char grilled, and finished with a house made mango, jalapeno & cilantro salsa, crispy wontons, toasted almonds and a drizzle of a sweet & spicy plum sauce, the salad was light and well-balanced with just the right amount of shrimp. And the plum sauce! … I would have liked to bottle it up and bring it home! If you are looking for a place that is close by, but that feels far away, I definitely suggest Lure’s. All in all our experience there was great. The service was top notch, the atmosphere was really fun, and the food was delicious enough that I want to come back to try other items on the menu. Lure’s regularly hosts special events sponsored by local craft breweries, and has organized both a wine and a beer club. You can learn more about the restaurant at www.facebook.com/LuresBarandGrill.
