With summer in full swing, garage and yard sales are popping up on the street
and online. The purpose of most garage sales is to clear out things you don’t
want, use or need in hopes of earning extra cash.
But why not host a sale that not only gets rid of your extra stuff, but also helps
community organizations in need?
Whether you are an individual, a family or an entire community, if you want to
declutter while doing good, check out these tips for hosting a hassle-free sale!
GET ORGANIZED
◗ Decide just what type of sale you want to host, which
will naturally determine where you will have it. Are
you selling just kids toys and clothes, or are you clean-
ing out the entire attic?
◗ A re you a small group of families and children easily
accommodated in a yard or driveway? Are you a larger
community group that requires a schoolyard, park or
parking lot? You might need to file paperwork with
the city or county if you want to use a public space or
place of business.

◗ What type of community group would you ideally like
to partner with? You might want to choose a group that
you know can help you with manpower, marketing or
other resources On the other hand, you might want to
remain completely independent so you can donate the
money as you choose.
◗ Make a list of all the tasks you must complete and sup-
plies you will need to create a successful event. Con-
sider having add-ons such as a lemonade stand, bake
sale or crafts & games to add social interest.
