Resolutions are tricky things : they are relatively simple to make , yet much harder to keep . Think about it — all you need to make a resolution is a desire , a dream . But to actually make that resolution become a reality , you need a plan , focus , determination and relentless motivation .
Jennie and I believe in the power of resolutions . We have a tacit agreement to periodically set an appointment to discuss our goals . We ask pointed questions and we commit to honest answers : Is our resolution achievable ? Are we committed to achieving it ? Are we taking daily actions that will make our resolution a reality ? Are we supporting each other ’ s goals ?
In recent months we ’ ve seen many of our resolutions come true . We have expanded our business to include more than forty agents and anticipate bringing on many more in the next few months . We ’ ve hired 5 local , full time staff members . We ’ ve improved our already outstanding customer service by adding a Client Services division , a second moving truck and a pick up truck . We ’ ve honored our commitment to be active in the communities where we work through cash donations , volunteer hours and membership on executive boards . We survived the great flood of summer ‘ 16 and re-opened an office in historic Ellicott City . We are resolved to succeed and to grow , and things are moving in that direction . We couldn ’ t feel prouder or happier .
As Jennie and I seek to grow our business , we often have to make thoughtful decisions that will benefit the company , our agents and employees , and most of all , our clients . With expansion and continued success in mind , we have decided to join the Better Homes and Garden Real Estate family as the company ’ s flagship location for the state of Maryland . Better Homes and Gardens is one of the leading real estate companies in the world .
The theme of this issue of GreenBook is Resolutions . We purposefully chose to talk about Resolutions in February instead of January for a good reason : by the end of this month , most people will have already abandoned the goals they set out to achieve in 2017 . As we spoke to Jaquie Ross — a Life Coach and Professional Organizer , Joe Pascal — an Olympic Athlete , AA Division champion , martial arts competitor and personal trainer , and financial experts , we learned that what makes a resolution most likely to succeed over the long haul is daily affirmation . You have to be willing to check in daily , do the work hourly and not give up early . If you can endure , you get to enjoy the payoff that is your reward .
Few resolutions can be more rewarding than making your money grow . In this issue , I write about how to save money to buy a home . I think these tips are simple , time-honored ways to make your real estate dreams a reality .
