They showed me all processes of weaving/
dyeing and sowing etc. They have very
strict safety regulations and nobody
comes in touch with any chemicals as the
dyeing is processed in a big computer
driven systems. This is a problem in some
parts in the world where the toxins of
the dyes are exposed to the skin of the
workers. It was very interesting for us to
see the full process.
We also have close contact with the
Swedish producer of wool garments in
Alingsås, I call them often and talk about
new materials and possibilities.
Green This Season MAGAZINE Spring 2014
What is more important to
you, the material you select
or the producer of your
collection?
In Saprema’s case it is a mix of both.
We strongly believe in the importance
of nontoxic clothing for movement,
yoga, dance. As we move and sweat we
want to be sure not to get any harmful
dyeing agents in the body through the
skin.
The working conditions and place of
the production is equally as important
and that is why we have chosen
Europe for production, so we can stay
close and monitor the process.
