voestalpine commissions Primetals Technologies to supply electric arc furnace
By commissioning Primetals Technologies Austria GmbH to supply the EAF for their site in Linz — the technological heart of the transformation to steel production powered by green electricity — voestalpine has taken an important next step in realizing this major project .
Primetals Technologies Austria GmbH , based in Linz , will be responsible for installing the EAF ’ s entire process equipment , including automation , power supply , capacitor bank , conveyor technology , heat recovery , dedusting , and monitoring their assembly and commissioning .

Emirates Steel Arkan , Khalifa University and Ohmium International collaborate on green hydrogen

Emirates Steel Arkan , Ohmium and Khalifa University of Science and Technology signed Strategic Collaboration on Hydrogen Research and Development , which was witnessed by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology .
The agreement was signed at the MoIAT ’ s pavilion in the Green Zone of COP28 , which took place from 30 November to 12 December at Expo City Dubai . It was signed by Eng . Saeed Al Ghafri , CEO of Emirates Steel , Arne Ballantine , CEO and Co-Founder of Ohmium International and Dr . Ebrahim Al-Hajri , Senior Vice President , Support Services , Khalifa University . The signing was witnessed by His Excellency Omar Al Suwaidi , Undersecretary of the
Volvo Cars announced they are doubling down on their action plan by aiming to reduce CO2 emissions per car by 75 per cent by 2030 , compared to a 2018 baseline .
This is in addition to their ambition to become climate neutral by 2040 , and to reduce CO2 emissions per car by 40 per cent
Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology .
The agreement is in line with the UAE National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology , which aims to decarbonize hard-toabate sectors while increasing the competitiveness of national industries . The strategy supports the UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative as well as the country ’ s economic diversification plans . The contribution of each organization ’ s unique perspective and knowledge will be instrumental in helping rapidly build the expertise to fully optimize the application of green hydrogen in the production of Direct Reduced Iron ( DRI ).

Volvo Cars aims to cut CO2 emissions

between 2018 and 2025 . During the first nine months of 2023 , overall CO2 emissions per car were 19 per cent lower compared with their 2018 benchmark . The company plans to cut emissions by utilizing near-zero emission aluminum and steel .
