FEA & FMA 2022 prove successful

More than 13,500 participants in the energy and clean mobility sectors converge to drive transformative motion in Southeast Asia

FUTURE Energy Asia ( FEA ) and Future Mobility Asia ( FMA ) 2022 , the only integrated event in Southeast Asia dedicated to modernising and driving Asean ’ s energy transition and clean mobility missions , took place on July 20-22 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre ( BITEC ).

The exhibition and summit hosted more than 150 international exhibitors and 250 speakers . The forum connected over 13,500 participants for networking and deal-making opportunities , of which 30 per cent of participants were international and regional attendees .
Organised under the patronage of Supattanapong Punmeechaow , Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand , and managed by the world ’ s largest organiser of energy exhibitions and conferences , dmg events , FEA and FMA 2022 presented a joint opening ceremony on July 20 .
Premrutai Vinaiphat , Deputy Permanent Secretary , Ministry of Energy Thailand , delivered the Ministerial Keynote Address on “ Thailand towards Net Zero : Clean Energy & Mobility for Green , Low-Carbon Growth ”.
Thailand in the driving seat
“ On behalf of the Ministry of Energy Thailand , I am pleased to share our appreciation and support for Future Energy Asia 2022 and Future Mobility Asia 2022 ,” said Vinaiphat .
“ It is apparent that we are now facing many challenges with the enormous shifts in the energy sector raised by the energy transition coupled with the pandemic and current global energy crisis .”
Subsequent keynotes included “ Fasttracking Thailand ’ s Energy Transition – The Role of Gas , Renewables and Thailand ’ s EV Ambitions ” by Auttapol Rerkpiboon , President and Chief Executive
Officer of PTT , and “ Sustainable E & P for Energy Security and Diversifications into New Energy Investment Opportunities and Technologies ” by Montri Rawanchaikul , Chief Executive Officer of PTTEP .
“ In 2021 , Thailand imported about 5.9 million tons of LNG and is expected to reach 8 million tons this year . The nation is surrounded by countries in demand , namely China , Japan , India and other Southeast Asia countries ,” said Rerkpiboon .
“ These countries accounted for 70 per cent of the current energy volume . While the increasing demand is foreseeable , PTT had set our energy portfolio to nine million tonnes by 2030 .”

Co-hosted with PTT , Future Energy Asia Exhibition and Summit 2022 presents 130 energy sector global speakers shaping energy transition - the most influential , impactful lineup since its inception in 2018 .
Keynote speakers included Rerkpiboon , Rawanchaikul , Petronas President and Group CEO Datuk Tengku Taufik , Cheniere Energy ’ s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Anatol Feygin and International Renewable Energy Agency ’ s Director General Francesco La Camera .
FEA 2022 featured specialised themes focusing on hydrogen , gas & LNG , carbon capture , and renewables . PTT and PTTEP showcased the next-generation decarbonisation , robotics , AI and mobility technologies at the Technology Showcase .
Country spotlight sessions on Vietnam , Indonesia , the Philippines and countries with active market activities were presented . Other event highlights include the announcement of the Thailand Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage ( CCUS ) Development Consortium , comprising multiple industries , government , and academic institutions .
The Consortium aims to create advancements in CCUS technology , from research to real-world utilisation in the industrial sectors .

With the mission to advance ASEAN ’ s mobility toward an electric , autonomous , connected future , Future Mobility Asia features 80 global speakers , including Arifin Tasrif , Minister for Energy & Mineral Resources of Indonesia ; Dr Twarath Sutabutra , Chief of Inspector General , Ministry of Energy Thailand ; Isao Sekiguchi , Regional Vice President , Marketing & Sales , Nissan Asean ; Rick Sturgeon , Senior Director – Transportation & Mobility , Dassault Systèmes ; Mrugank Inamdar , Managing Director , Middle East and Asia ( Ex-China ), Hyzon Motors ; and Chanin Khaochan , Deputy Secretary General , Thailand Board of Investment .
More than 85 international brands with robust participation from Singapore , India , Malaysia , China and many others participated in FMA 2022 .
At the summit , two cross-border Memorandums of Understanding ( MOUs ) were signed between Singapore and Thailand companies , dedicated to strengthening the support for clean mobility developments and deployments .
SWAT Mobility signed a MOU with Thai Post Distribution to conduct a joint study on the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning ( AI / ML ) in the management of route planning and optimising load utilisations of postal vehicles to increase productivity and cost efficiency .
Another MOU was signed between Banpu NEXT , Cherdchai and Durapower to set up a joint venture company in Thailand to manufacture battery systems in support of smart mobility in Thailand .
FEA and FMA 2023 are on May 17-19 in Bangkok . — @ Green
