1.Collect some recycled plastic bottles with the numbers 1, 2, 4 or 5, which are the types of plastic that are safe to grow food in. These will be used to make seed starters.
2. Take the label off the bottle and use an exacto knife to cut off the top of a bottle (about 1/3rd of the bottle) and drill or pierce a hole into the cap.
3.Get a small piece of yarn (about 4 inches long) and tie a few knots at one end.
4. Turn the top half of your bottle upside down and thread the yarn through the hole in the cap, such that the knot is inside the bottle and the long piece of yarn is hanging outside the bottle.
5. Fill the bottom half of the bottle with 1-2 inches of water and fill the top half with moist soil.
6. Plant a few seeds of the the same type of vegetable, equal distance apart, in the soil, making sure to only plant it as deep as twice the seeds diameter.
