a CPA and volunteer , he understands the benefits of investing in and giving back to the community .
“ The golf course will be a terrific addition to Adair County and Carson Park ,” said St . Pierre . “ The course will have artificial greens and tee boxes . It will allow the city to further promote the park with 9-hole tournaments , which in turn will bring in sales tax dollars to Stilwell . It will also give the schools a place to practice golf , enhancing another sport for the youth of Adair County . Overall , I believe it will be a terrific addition to the community .”
The golf course benefits are physical fitness , as well as additional activities for families and fundraising .
Krista Baird Bradley , a therapist , owner of Phoenix Counseling , and the Kiwanis president thinks it ’ s a great addition to the town .
“ It will open up a lot of opportunities for the youth ,” said Baird . “ Golf scholarships are vast and could help people with secondary education expenses . There are fundraising opportunities using a golf course that nonprofit organizations in our area could take advantage of . There could also be family events at the golf course .”
Adding more activities at the park gives more people reasons to get out and stay healthy .
Mike Merrie , owner of Werx and Stilwell Chamber Board member-elect , used to run golf camps for kids . “ A golf course will do so many good things for the community ,” said Merrie . “ You can play golf until you ’ re 100 .
