It’s a good place to get together,” he said. “A lot of times, the dinner crowd sticks around to hear music.” A guitar builder, as well as perform- er, Lawrence gives a lot of thought to the music he makes and he plays. “People like classical pieces and easy listening music that doesn’t de- mand a lot of attention, then the next set gets a little livelier,” he said. Along with classical pieces, jazz tunes and some blues he performs on a guitar he made, Lawrence added that he’s learning to sing a little. Lawrence, Dennis Tibbits and Kelly Anquoe are among the musicians who play at Tahlequah Creates art gallery, which offers weekly live music. Other downtown Tahlequah spots also offer live music, such as Ned’s, De- wain’s Place, and Kroner & Baer Pub, and Lift Coffee Bar. Local musician Michael Franke loves playing at the venue. “It’s one of my favorite places to play. Kevin treats us right; the crowd is usually lively, it’s outside and I love be- ing out by the river,” he said. “It makes me feel all right when I’m playing mu- sic there.” Lake Tenkiller also offers music by the water. As the weather warms up, musicians will play at places such as The Deck at Cookson Village, Piddle’s Place Bar & Grill, Barnacle Bill’s, and more.
