Tahlequah community arts range from visual to audio

By MADELINE ANELE Tahlequah Daily Press
The arts are seemingly at the heart of the Tahlequah community with many talented musicians and artists who are creating audio and visual works for locals to enjoy at various venues .
Kroner & Baer , a local pub is one of the many venues dedicated to bringing the community together over the talent produced here .
Michael Payne is a bartender who is supportive of the talent the venue brings in .
“ I appreciate being in the local zeitgeist of music ,” said Payne . “ Every Friday and every Saturday from 8 p . m . to 11 p . m . we have artists that travel from other locations , but we often have artists from the region perform .”
This local music attracts crowds of all ages , so long as they are 21 plus according to the venue ’ s policy .
“ A lot of our space is outdoor seating and patio and we try to fill that space with local sound ,” said Payne . One of these local sounds is a talented musician , Zephram Foster .
“ I have been immersed in music from a very young age . My dad was super musical , so I grew up listening to tons of diverse music and learning to sing and play instruments from childhood ,” said Foster . “ Singing in the church praise team , choirs ; I started writing songs in high school after I taught myself guitar and piano .”
For those interested in getting a taste of Foster ’ s music , his music and information is available on his website at zeffoster . com . It has upcoming gigs , music videos , and links to his social media as well as his music which is streaming on Spotify .
“ My favorite place to play is usually Kroner & Baer Pub , so check them out on the weekends . Also , my band and I have enjoyed playing at the newly reopened Canebrake in Wagoner , and many other places ,” said Foster .
The Spider Gallery at 215 S . Muskogee Ave . in Tahlequah features art created by locals .
