“ All the proceeds for the duck race will go to replacing the city ’ s crumbling barricades ,” said Jenkins . “ Crowd control barriers are a great help in keeping large groups of people away from potentially hazardous areas . Plus , they improve the functionality of an event space and ensure that everyone knows where they should go – as well as where they shouldn ’ t . Currently , the City has approximately 15 wooden barriers in disrepair along with another 60 that need to be repainted / safety striped . Our class goal is to repair these along with adding another 70 barriers to keep our community safe for parades , shows and other activities they host each year .”
Many community members like the Tahlequah Leadership class will volunteer during the Red Fern Festival to raise money for different causes on Friday and Saturday .
The organizers of the festival hope that it will be a great place for friends and families to gather and to enjoy a day in Downtown Tahlequah . Live music from multiple bands will close out the festival . Participants can look forward to a performance from RC and the Ambers .
