My journey in the academic world began 15 years ago back in Brazil. Throughout my career I went from being an EFL teacher to managing language centres, working with B2B educational partnerships, and now working as a Student Support Coordinator.

We have several initiatives in place to ensure that students feel supported and achieve positive outcomes. One of them is a 10-week programme for first semester students, which introduces the key skills of successful university students. We also cover non-academic related topics such as dealing with stress, New Zealand culture and biculturalism.

What I love most about my work is that I have the chance to facilitate interactions between students from all programmes.

I strongly believe that giving students the chance to build a community and make friends, especially when studying online alone in their rooms, is what makes university life interesting and meaningful.
