Louisa designed and facilitated Learning and Teaching Reimagined, a national Covid-19 response programme for university leaders, which engaged over 1,000 contributors during 2020, shaping a vision and roadmap for technology-enhanced learning and teaching for UK universities.

Following the keynote each day, a panel discussion was held.  On day one, the panel explored future L&T strategy and some of the innovative plans to support academics.

Panellists also spoke about embedding diversity in the curriculum with examples from Roshanak Zarabi, Head of Programme Development and Quality Assurance, London Brunel International College.  John Mandy, Academic Manager, talked about educational models being used in the Netherlands’ Twente College to encourage the independent learner, and Hazel Wilkins, lecturer from International College Robert Gordon University, spoke about changes in the science industry and how that is shaping ICRGU’s approach to teaching, learning and the curriculum.

The day two panel focused on our students and the audience was treated to a magical 40 minutes where students from various UPE Colleges spoke movingly about their educational journey during the pandemic, their thoughts on virtual learning and interaction, and how they’ve adapted to online learning.  All spoke about the positives of flexible learning, the upside of being able to listen to recorded sessions supporting those with dyslexia or simply being able to access a flexible timetable.

The agenda for both days was packed with practical presentations from academics across a range of subjects from teaching and learning strategies for neurodiverse learners, creating accessible and inclusive Moodle templates to teacher, and student interactions to improve learner outcomes, and interactions in a virtual space.

The event was great success and the recordings from all the sessions are currently being edited and will be available in the coming weeks.
