GREEK STUDENTS IMPRESSIONS OF THE LTTA IN FATIMA, PORTUGAL GREEK STUDENTS REPORTS | Page 8
I’m Nick Thanos, a student of High School of Asopia, Greece. I was a member
of the Greek team which travelled to Fatima, Portugal, during the period 4 – 10 of
March 2018 for the 1 st LTTA meeting under the Erasmus+ Project “Youngsters
Nowadays. Where From, Where To?”.
We set out our journey in the morning of the 4 th of March! The plane took off
from Athens to Lisbon. When we arrived there, we had the opportunity to
wander around the Old Town. In the evening all foreign groups together travelled
to Fatima and had a good rest.
On Monday morning, the Insignare school welcomed us and we had the
chance to get to know each other through some ice breaking activities and
games. It was really nice! Every day, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. we were at school
making presentations of our national eating habits and healthy living, doing
workshops and working in groups towards synthesizing our findings and drawing
conclusions and making suggestions towards a healthier lifestyle.
Still, we did find time to interact and communicate outside classrooms and
learn interesting things and habits about each other’s countries. After finishing
school sessions and workshops we had the chance to walk around the city of
Fatima and explore the sights of the city while sharing a snack all together. At the
end of the day we all were so tired but still we gathered in our hotel rooms acting
as team of good old friends having fun until late at night.
On Thursday we had a farewell dinner both teachers and students of all
participating countries. While returning to Lisbon, we once again had a few hours
to spend around the capital of Portugal. What we saw was absolutely awesome.
On Saturday afternoon we took our way back home flying to Heathrow and then
back to Athens.
To put it in a nutshell, this travel was a unique experience for me. I am
absolutely convinced that I gave you a slight idea of this trip of a lifetime and the
international programme we were given the opportunity to participate in.
What I can tell for sure is that meeting people coming from other countries
and cultures was the most brilliant experience. I made new friends with whom I
hope to keep contact within the years to come and that we will surely have
another opportunity to get back all together in the future! Last but no least I
would like to express my gratitude to both Portuguese students and teachers for
their whole hearted hospitality.
