Think Raleigh!

Dear Meeting Professional:
Thanks for considering Greater Raleigh, North Carolina, for your next meeting or event! Business and pleasure are both indulged as you take in more than $ 3 billion in new development here, surrounded by a world of eclectic eateries, Broadway shows and incredible sports.
Raleigh has long been hailed as one of the nicest places to live in the nation. Maybe it’ s our incredible climate, or seemingly endless array of things to do, or the genuinely welcoming people who make our area such a wonderful place to call home.
But now there is so much more for visitors to see... Terminal 2 at RDU International Airport is now fully open after its $ 570 million expansion. The latest technology and convenient services inside have elevated the travel experience for all visitors arriving by air. Modernization of Terminal 1( formerly Terminal A) should be complete in early 2014.
If you are meeting in downtown Raleigh, you’ ll see our Silver LEED-Certified Raleigh Convention Center, a catalyst for downtown’ s recent redevelopment, which opened in September 2008. Connected to it via interior walkways, the 400-room Raleigh Marriott City Center joins the adjacent Sheraton Raleigh Hotel in providing top-notch accommodations. A third hotel property, likely to be mid-scale, is now in the active pipeline for development.
Just outside these hotels’ lobbies, City Plaza – completed in late 2009 – is an outdoor gathering place that’ s a hub for socialization amid public artwork. Also nearby, the 5,500-seat Raleigh Amphitheater – completed in June 2010 – puts a larger open-air festival site right in downtown Raleigh’ s convention campus.
With the opening of the Lonnie Poole Golf Course at N. C. State University in Spring 2009, downtown area meeting attendees have a new option for after-session breaks. The 6,915-yard, par 71 is an Arnold Palmer Signature Course and brings Greater Raleigh’ s public and semi-private golf course tally to 18.
Whether you choose Raleigh, Cary or the surrounding area for your stay, we believe you’ ll find that Greater Raleigh really is the“ can’ t miss” cultural and entertainment center of the Southeast for leisure, business and events. We invite you to experience the whole area for yourself, and please let me or the staff of the Greater Raleigh CVB know how best to assist with your plans!
Sincerely,
Dennis Edwards President and CEO Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau
