The end of July means golf , networking and fun at Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress . The Annual Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress Golf Classic brings all of that and has become a tradition for investors , though it ’ s seen changes and grown through the years .
The prizes , relaxing day of golf and ability to network , however , all remain , as do the classic sponsors of Courtside Bar and Grill .
GOLF CLASSIC
It is a shotgun start with all of the teams on the course at once , although they all spread out throughout the course of the day . The next tentative date for the 83rd Annual Golf Classic is the last Friday in July , 2024 .
“ The tournament is a fundraiser for Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress , but it ’ s also a way for us to give back to our investors ,” Greiner said . “ It ’ s really just a fun and relaxing day where people can network with each other over golf .”
“ It ’ s really a great networking opportunity . People like the free beverages and food , and the 50-50 raffle .” said Shea Greiner , director of investor relations for Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress .
The tournament , which was the 82nd annual outing for 2023 , has always been at The Club , an 18-hole golf course .

SADDLING UP FOR FOURTH FUN
The Fourth of July weekend has come to mean that it ’ s rodeo time in Ottumwa !
The Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress Rodeo is a double-sanctioned event through the Iowa Rodeo Cowboys Association with presenting sponsor 10-15 Transit . The first event , in 2017 , drew about 500 spectators who enjoyed the excitement of bucking bulls , horses , bareback riding and barrel racing . The tradition has carried on , with 2023 ’ s event drawing hundreds of spectators

The show has grown . In 2018 , it was named the Best One-Day Rodeo in Iowa by the Iowa Rodeo Cowboys Association . In 2020 , it expanded to a two-day event , featuring trick rider Dusty Kimzey . In 2021 , Kimzey partnered with local trick rider Dally Orman . It also moved to a three-day event with the addition of the Brenda Sieren Memorial Barrel Race , in which the proceeds of the event go to the American Cancer Society .
The 2023 Rodeo marked the rodeo ’ s seventh year . On Friday and Saturday , lots of excitement was had and the competition saw many events . The Greater Ottumwa Rodeo boasts an economic impact of $ 1.2 million to the Ottumwa economy over the three-day event .
Food trucks offered concessions for virtually all appetites , and non-food vendors as well .
As with all Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress events , volunteers are always needed to work in supporting roles . Advance tickets can be purchased from the Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress office .
