The Chamber of Commerce is an Important
Partner in Economic Development
Although we often hear people talk about “the good old days” and wanting to “keep
things just the way they are”. The reality is that change is continually happening and
if we are not moving forward, we are moving backward. Some jobs that exist now may
not be needed in the future, and jobs we’ve never imagined may be common.
Economic diversity isn’t just a catch phrase. It really means opening the doors of
opportunity to businesses and individuals. Diversity in industries and jobs can significantly
impact our overall economic health. Some think of economic diversity as only being about
bringing new businesses, but it also includes allowing our existing businesses to grow and
develop new ventures. The Chamber strives to ensure prosperity in our community.
With over 1000 members the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce has resources
to advocate for, and promote, Laramie County and Cheyenne. I want to support their
efforts. Working with other economic development organizations, the Chamber adds
our voices to support a healthy economy. Being a member of the Chamber is one of the
ways I invest in my community.
The Chamber is a respected source about local, state, and national legislation. It is easy
to miss a perspective that could have a positive, or negative, impact. Chamber
membership allows me to benefit from the wisdom and support of the Chamber members.
As a State Senator, it’s important that I consider how legislative decisions impact our
community. Chamber publications and luncheons speakers address timely issues, and they
are a great way for me to stay informed.
Cheyenne and Laramie County have a dynamic future. This is a great place to live and work.
I grew up in Laramie County and returned after I received my Veterinary degree. I continue
to enjoy the quality of life available here. This is my community, and I want it to be a
mixture of retail options, food and drink establishments,
cultural and sports activities, great schools, inviting parks
and outdoor spaces, terrific medical service, effective local
government, interesting people, and more.
The mission of the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce is to
make the greater Cheyenne area a more prosperous and
quality community. Doesn’t everyone want that?
That’s why I am a 30 + year member.
