GREATER CHEYENNE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ISSUE SPONSOR: Rachael Girt, Wyoming Capitol Square Project Restoring the historic grandeur of Wyoming’s architectural crown jewel BY: RACHEL GIRT, WYOMING CAPITOL SQUARE PROJECT One of the most visible symbols of the State of Wyoming, the iconic gold-leafed dome of the Wyoming Capitol, has disappeared behind scaffolding for a much-needed renovation. This work is taking place as part of the larger Wyoming Capitol Square Project to restore state’s architectural crown jewel. The fi rst comprehensive renovation in the Capitol’s 130-year history is focused on preserving this addressing critical infrastructure failures. The project also includes the replacement, relocation, and expansion of the central utility plant; expansion of the below grade Capitol Extension to the Herschler Building; and rehabilitation and expansion of the Herschler Building. The project is scheduled to be complete in mid-2019 with some components being fi nished earlier in 2018.
