WORKFORCE:
According to research performed by the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services in 2013 the average annual
wage is $31,282 and the average number of employers is 1.3. Forty four percent of the workforce is women and
47.5% are men. Statewide the women workforce makes $28,572 and the men workforce makes $36,825. Women
between the ages of 25-34 make up 23% of the Wyoming Workforce and men between ages 45-54 make up 20%.
The U.S. Census stated that Cheyenne declined in Household Income by -.09% in 2013.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics provided a 6.2% unemployment rate for 2014 thus far and Wyoming is 4.3% and
Cheyenne in particular is 4.8%. The Oil and Gas industry is expected to grow significantly in the coming years
for Laramie County forecasting growth as noted in the Occupational Trends research produced by the Wyoming
Department of Workforce Services. Additionally, there was a 2.9% increase in High Tech Employment for Laramie
County this past year.
EDUCATION:
According to Moody’s Analytics the State of Wyoming has 92.3% in High School Attainment and 23.7% in College
Attainment. During the August Luncheon John Lyttle, Superintendent of Laramie County School District #1, showed
high school graduates for the district is slightly above the national average. As stated in the Wyoming Tribune
Eagle article, John Lyttle named new LCSD1 head, “Lyttle said his vision for improving the district would include
expanding the way the district has focused on language arts and math to improve results in more subject areas,
offering more training to principals and improving graduation rates.” Additionally, in Wyoming there is the Hathaway
program that assists in the obtainment of high education and with this there are many educational opportunities
within Cheyenne.
QUALITY OF LIFE:
Overall Cheyenne has been ranked by Forbes as #129th for Best Small Places for Business and Careers, #138
in the Cost of Doing Business, #34 in Job Growth and #76 in Education. The Cost of Living in Cheyenne is 4.1%
below the National Average. The average commute for someone in Cheyenne is only 16 minutes and the crime rate
