hen I moved to Cheyenne in 2006, there were many factors that I
considered. And while costs, climate, education and culture topped my list, I have
grown to love Cheyenne for its commitment to community. Cheyenne residents
have a deep sense of pride in collaborating and encouraging each other. They are incredibly
generous with their time and financial support for a variety of groups from children and animals to
the arts and health. Indeed, the community spirit is visible throughout the year.
My position at the Laramie County Library System gives me the opportunity to
witness the Cheyenne’s charitable spirit first-hand. Each day I work with a business owner, nonprofit employee, or entrepreneur who is committed to giving Cheyenne residents every possible
opportunity for education and self-improvement. And each day I am reminded of the sheer
number of volunteers and donors it takes to make a nationally recognized library operate efficiently
and effectively.
The Laramie County Library is a true community hub where many neighborhood
alliances form and grow. I have a front-row seat each day that reminds me of how blessed we are
to live in a city where so many people are dedicated to making a better life for someone else. I
would encourage anyone contemplating Cheyenne as a home to spend some time investigating the
ways we support each other. You will be impressed by the charitable spirit of this community.
The Laramie County Library can help you get comfortable with the Cheyenne community quickly!
