The Continental Army was having
a dismal time. The campaign in
New York had not gone well.
Washington pulled his troops
out of New York across New
Jersey and into Pennsylvania
and thus ensues the story we
all know well. Washington was
running out of time and money
because most of his troops would
be cut loose from the military in
January. The result was one of
the most infamous maneuvers in
military history. Christmas Night
1776, Washington crossed the
Delaware with horses, equipment
and men and marched to Trenton
where he soundly whipped the
Hessians and arguably turned
the tide in the American’s effort
