MLinda Weppner The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Chairman Partners and Partnership What exactly do those words mean? Well, according to the Online Miriam Webster Dictionary, “Partner is 1 of 2 or more businesses that work together or do business together; someone who participates in an activity or game with another person.” It further states archaically, that a partner is a “par taker – one that shares; one who associates with another especially in action i.e. – associate; colleague.” So – where does the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce fit into these definitions? As a partner with the Chamber, as a partner, must be in tune with the local economy. As an example, the economics in Cheyenne and Laramie County show that, even though business conditions in our communities are very stable and strong at this time, there are concerns over future national and international stability that could have a significant impact on one of our community’s most valuable resources, F. E. Warren AFB. Partnerships stand to amplify mutual interests and success, and this is a perfect example of the partnership our Chamber has with its business members through a very specific committee known “As a partner with the business as the Wyoming community, an associate or Wranglers. a colleague, the Chamber’s goal is to provide a base for facilitating programs, products, It is a well-known services, events and activities fact that F. E. that will ensure their member Warren AFB is our community’s partners receive a worthy largest employer return-on-investment and and provides provide value. “ the business community, an associate or a colleague, the Chamber’s goal is to provide a base for facilitating programs, products, services, events and activities that will ensure their member partners receive a worthy return-on-investment and provide value. Economically, an economic impact to the City of Cheyenne, Laramie County, and the State of Wyoming in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Our Chamber, through the Wranglers, has established strategic partnerships to further the prosperity of our military community in Cheyenne and the surrounding area. These advocacy efforts have been greatly enhanced by the partnership that has been formed with our business consultant in Washington D. C. This relationship has allowed our Chamber to represent our business community’s wants, needs and desires to have a viable place to work, live and prosper in both business and in life. The members of the Wranglers Committee are the Chamber’s investment partners providing the funds to support our lobbying efforts through our business consultant. This alliance, this partnership, has been instrumental in working with the State’s delegation to provide or improve critical infrastructure for the military presence in Cheyenne both at Warren and the Wyoming Military Department – the Army & Air National Guards. So – what is the recurring theme in this presentation? It appears to be two (2) words…partners and partnerships. The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce is our business partner; however, its reach is far greater than that. Through the Chamber’s channels, partnerships in D. C., and with other communities, the Chamber members extend their partnerships as well. The main objective of partnerships is the true synergy that one plus one equals five, not two. In other words, as partners, we can move mountains. Thank you for being our partners. Q4 2015 BUSINESS JOURNAL l PG 7
