country. When we ask businesses in Cheyenne what some of
their biggest hurdles, are they continue to identify regulation and
government red tape. These two pieces always make the list.
The rest of the country reflects the same.
RESEARCH GENERATES ACTION:
Recently, the chamber embarked on a study to determine the
cost effectiveness of doing business in Cheyenne and Laramie
County. The results of the study illustrated both good and
bad implications for the City of Cheyenne. The good news is
the amount of fees we charge in Cheyenne is on par with our
competitors in the region. The bad news from the study indicates
that the cost of regulation and time is hurting our ability to
compete. Locally to nationally,
this poses a huge problem for
prosperity and for business.
It is time for businesses to
stand up and insure growth
and development. It is the
responsibility of the business
community to get development
and growth back on track. This
will help businesses thrive and
the economy will roll along in a
positive direction.
purpose of our republic. Remember the freedom to succeed is
our promise and we can take that far.
Marc Woods, from Horizon Homes, expressed to us the value
he sees in being a Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce
partner. He stated “Currently the greatest value with my Chamber
partnership is the fact I can find a comfort in knowing that I am
helping to provide ‘strength in numbers’ by being an invested
partner of an organization who has chosen to challenge some
of the ideas put forth by those we have elected and appointed
because small business should be a priority.
I gladly continue to support the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of
Commerce. This organization is a
guard dog, of sorts, for business.
They also have a large sized bite. I
love the support the Chamber offers
its partners and the marketing and
information provided on a monthly
basis. I appreciate the support
the Chamber shows our military,
especially local, and the commitment
I see toward local small business at
all levels of government.
I am very pleased to see the
Chamber’s willingness to go to bat for
Cheyenne’s small business people.
I am proud to be a partner of an
organization who is not afraid to step
up and address issues which need
handled and say them in a way that
is not controversial or too aggressive.
They understand the importance of
performing research and letting the
findings identify critical needs for our
business community.”

WHY WE DO IT:
Folks the time is NOW!
We must start paying attention.
It is time to work on the details
impacting the future of our
community, our state and our
nation. The time is now
to look at how we make our
government entities more
efficient. The time is now
to engage politicians at all
levels of government so our
elected officials are continuely
aware of implications placed
on business. When they stifle
business, they decrease the
quality of life of all citizens.
Thomas Jefferson said “A free people (claim) their rights as
derived from the laws of nature and not as the gift of their chief
magistrate.” We should embrace this concept every day and
make sure our elected officials clearly understand its meaning as
well. The business men and women of this country are the ones
who have funded it, built it, bled for it and sustained it.
