O ur June edition celebrates the ribboned champions of the 2026 Henderson County Livestock Show, although I’ d like to say, every student who participates is a winner in my book.
Livestock projects take a lot of work— however, the rewards of these types of projects are immeasurable. Youth livestock projects nurture the next generation of our agricultural leaders, giving students an overview of livestock care and our Ag industry. Livestock projects teach students vital life skills— including responsibility, time management, public speaking, critical thinking, budgeting and resilience.
Youth who participate in livestock projects not only get hands on life experience in ranching, they also learn sportsmanship through competition, as well as lasting friendships with other contestants.
Livestock projects can also be a great family activity, with parents and siblings showing support and helping when needed. Congratulations to all of our winners and participants. I’ m proud of every single individual who participated in this year’ s Henderson County Livestock Show and hope to see those that didn’ t graduate back next year!
A special thank you to the volunteers who make it all happen— thank you for investing in our youth’ s futures.
This edition also features the scholarship recipients of Caring for America of Henderson County 2026 scholarships. These scholarships are earmarked for students who plan to be our next generation of firefighters, paramedics, nurses and law enforcement officers, who will one day serve communities across Texas. Learn not only about the five recipients but also about Caring for America of Henderson County 2026 scholarships and how you can support them.
