“ Black Health and Wellness means the state or condition of being in good physical and mental health . African Americans are generally at higher risk for heart diseases , strokes , cancer , asthma , and much more . Black teenagers experience daily racial discrimination , most frequently online , which can lead to negative mental health effects . These issues put them at higher risk for depression and other mental health problems . Yet , Black youth are less likely to seek treatment . African American teens often get looked at differently than others and I know this for a fact because I go through it . Studies show that black children from 10-19 often die from suicide . I feel as if African Americans were treated equally the world would be a better place . African Americans should get the healthcare they deserve and the wellness they need to survive . There ’ s honestly no good reason Blacks are treated differently .”
To help with raising funds for these students , the HCBHC will host a Car , Truck , & Motorcycle Show Saturday , June 11 at the Malakoff High School . Registration time is 8 a . m .; cost is $ 20 and $ 10 for each additional vehicle . There will be a concession stand and raffle tickets on site with great prizes .
