“ There ’ s an old saying that goes ‘ When White folks catch cold , Black folks get pneumonia .’ People in the Black community felt as though they had it worse when things got tough economically , judicially , and even medically . White people saw health and wellness as casual and easy to fulfill , but the Black people on the other hand , had to work for their health and wellness and often were left without either . Healthcare providers who believe that black people ’ s skin is tougher may who rougher tendencies towards them when using needles or other penetrative tools . Those who believe that African Americans feel less pain could potentially treat a minority ’ s pain inappropriately . In addition , there have been many studies done by the AAMC , that show that healthcare professionals show an unintentional favor of white people that can result in the ineffective treatment of people of color .”

“ Income is related to healthcare and African Americans face healthcare disparity because it limit ’ s the access to the right type of care . The most common health problems African Americans face are heart diseases and cancer . Racism has not only impacted the health of people of color , but it has impacted their physical health This causes African Americans to pass away faster and earlier than other ethnic groups , meaning that inflammation has increased in African Americans ; which can make them chronically ill .”

“ Health in general is something that has become hard to sustain ; especially for the black culture . There is countless historical evidence to provide how it has been even harder for people of a certain color to gain better health . Reasons include living in certain conditions in the past and / or not having access to certain health plans / guides People of color were not allowed to have the best health options available ; they had to make do with the health that they had because it was what kept them alive and able to work in the fields or in the house .”
Karter Fuller , Malakoff
“ Did you know some of the leading health issues for Black America include heart disease , diabetes , and HIV / AIDS ? The death rate of African Americans is up 46 % than that of Whites for these causes . From lack of education opportunities , the black household has indeed had some setbacks as it come to health and wellness . Black families typically must rely on Federal and State benefits which tend to have more limits than most standard insurance plans . The message is simple , always make health and wellness a priority . I believe the best way to do this is by changing the things we can change and acknowledging the things that take more time to change . Personally , I plan to contribute to a change in my family by diligently continuing my education .”
